520			_aHijo de Giovanni Bruno (soldado al servicio de los españoles) y de Fraulisa Savolino, Filippo Bruno nació en 1548, en Nola (cerca de nápoles), uno de los pueblos del fogón del Vesubio, apoyado por el tío Agostino, se inició en trivium en la universidad de Nápoles, donde también se había iniciado Tomás de Aquino hacia 1239. En el estudio general dominicano, Fra Giordano completó trivium y quatrivium, dando especial importancia al latín (lengua universitaria), a la lógica, a la retórica y a la astronomía. Hizo filosofía por Aristóteles y teología por la suma teológica de Tomás de Aquino.
